Our Work
A website built around the student
Jabiru Community College is an independent, fee-free alternative senior school in Brisbane, offering Years 10 to 12 through Big Picture Learning Design. With small class sizes and a personalised approach to every student, they needed a website that spoke to young people directly while carrying the accreditation, policy and safeguarding information a school is required to publish.

The ask
Speak to students without losing the substance
Jabiru needed a site that worked for two very different readers at once: young people deciding whether this is a school where they'd belong, and the parents, carers and professionals who need policies, reports and enrolment detail. The build had to carry both without the compliance material overwhelming the voice.

We built the site from the approved designs, translating them into a responsive platform that keeps the school's voice front and centre. Development focused on performance, accessibility and a content structure flexible enough to hold everything from the enrolment journey through to formal reporting.
A significant part of the work was the policy and reporting library. Existing documents were converted into structured, web-native content so the school can maintain them in-house rather than uploading replacement files each time something changes. The same content model carries student safety information, staff and professional resources, and the community and careers material, each with its own presentation but a single editing experience behind it. Following launch, we provided managed hosting with uptime monitoring, security oversight and ongoing technical support.
The finished site gives Jabiru a digital front door that reads the way the school actually feels — direct, warm and addressed to the young person rather than over their head. The information a school is obliged to publish sits alongside that without dulling it.
The structured content model means the team can keep policies and reports current without technical help, which matters for a school where that material has to stay accurate. With managed hosting in place, the college has ongoing reliability and oversight, and can put its attention where it belongs.
